Masterpoint
ranks
Players who achieve success in events run by WBU affiliated clubs, WBU Areas, or the WBU itself, are awarded WBU Master Points. There are two types of Master Points: National points, known as "Greens", which are won at events of National standing, and Local points, which are awarded at all other events, and also at some events where Green points are awarded. A player's holding of Green (National) and Local Points can be expressed together under the general term of Master Points: 100 Local Points = 1 Master Point, 1 Green Point = 1 Master Point. For example, if a player has 7¼ Green Points and 3,521 Local Points, the overall holding is actually 42.46 Master Points, i.e. (3521 divided by 100) + 7.25. The player’s rank would be County Master. The ranks and points requirements are listed below in increasing order of seniority. All requirements relate to the total Master Points held by each player; e.g. Club Master requires 2 Master Points, and promotion from that rank to District Master (10 Master Points) requires a further 8 Master Points. At the beginning of the 2007/2008 WBU year, some changes were made to the Rank list. The rank Local Master (requiring 10 Master Points) had its name changed to "District Master". Two new ranks Premier Master (requiring 50 Master Points including 10 Green Points) and Premier Grand Master (1500 Green Points) were added to the list. At the beginning of the 2008/2009 WBU year, another two new ranks, Local Master (requiring 1 Master Point) and Area Master (requiring 5 Master Points) were added to the list. Ranks of Premier Master and above require a specified number of Green Points within the overall total.
